Xmas Eve with Bodyguards and Assassin: 2.5/5

I seldom watch Chinese movies in cinema. After watching Donnie Yen's movie Ip Man, I started to think that Hong Kong productions are improving! I have thought that any movie that starred Donnie would be fantastic. I was holding so much high expectation for this show, more than what I have for Avatar. Great expectation of seeing a hero in action leads to big disappointment as well. There was not strong focus on any of the characters and Donnie Yen's character died pitifully half way through the show.

Friends who appreciated the show are those who know the history of Sun Yat Sen well. Well, I guess we are just those typical movie buffs expecting a hero to save the day with happy ending note and I'm glad a couple of like-mind friends also shared my sentiments!

But I'm very amused with Leon Lai's long silky hair. He was the character in the show that brought much laughters to the set.

Avatar > Rating: 4/5

Drizzling in the morning is a perfect reason to wake up late for work.

Anyway we went to catch Avatar after breakfast since my lateness was overdone.  It was the movie's release and I believe we were the first few to catch the show. It was odd to catch a movie in early morning. The cinema was almost empty except for some fat uncles with umbrellas.

The movie did surprise me because I was not expecting much from it as the trailer wasn't that promising. I was going for another highly-raved movie but the timing was not right so we settle for this. The storyline is typical with atypical background. The great graphic is enough to shadow some of the un-comfortableness felt in the similarities between the African Tribal Earthling and the Pandora's Navi.

I find the luminous freckles are so cool and Jake is cool as well..He is the younger Ewan McGregor.

The movie is a visual grandeur and I'm glad that if not for the imperfect timing, I may not know there's such a great firm not to be missed.
